2005 Peer Review Report Says PTRFB Among The Best
in the U.S.
Since 1988, the American Institute of Certified Public
Accountants (AICPA) has required that its member firms in the U.S.
performing audits, reviews, or compilations for corporations or
other entities undergo a peer review every three years and conduct
ongoing internal monitoring to verify that CPA firms are adhering
to strict quality control standards in conducting financial reporting
and engagements. Firms that conduct audits, like Perisho Tombor
Ramirez Filler & Brown, are subject to the most rigorous peer
review.
The AICPA peer review process is an integral part
of the profession's practice quality monitoring program. The peer
review verifies that the firm's quality control policies and procedures
are consistently followed, and includes reviews of selected accounting
and auditing engagements for adherence to professional standards
for CPAs.
- 86% of accounting firms receive “unmodified” peer review reports, meaning that no significant deficiencies have been noted. However, most firms also receive a letter of comments from the peer review team indicating a need for certain corrective actions. The firm is then required to respond in writing to an oversight committee describing the corrective actions it intends to take.
- Each year less than 25% of CPA firms nationwide earn an unmodified peer review report without comments, the best evaluation possible.
- Since our founding in 1991, Perisho Tombor Ramirez Filler & Brown has undergone a total of five peer reviews. Each of our five peer reviews has been unmodified without comments. This is the highest evaluation given by the AICPA.
