Jim heads our Management Advisory Services Group. He specializes in business valuation along with management and financial consulting, including executive mentoring, profitability improvement techniques, strategic corporate planning and family wealth transfer strategies. Jim has been awarded the designation Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA) in Business Valuation after meeting the rigorous requirements of The American Society of Appraisers. He has also been awarded the designation CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® after meeting the rigorous requirement of The Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards. Please click here [Business

Experience/ Education: Prior to joining our firm, Jim was Regional Vice President at Union Bank and Bank of the West, heading corporate banking and has over 35 years experience analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of privately held companies. He has performed complete appraisals and/or served as a valuation consultant in appraising stock in privately held companies, complex capital structures requiring allocation of value between multiple classes of preferred and common stock and intangible assets such as patents, trademarks and in-process research and development. Jim holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley and a BA in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance from San Francisco State University. He has completed additional study in investment management, income tax, employee benefits, retirement planning, and estate planning and taxation. Jim has met the rigorous requirements of The American Society of Appraisers through successful completion of examinations in all four academic areas (BV201-Basic Valuation Techniques, BV202-The Income Approach, BV203-Case Problems and BV204-Selected Advanced Topics), in Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), and in Ethics; submission of two written appraisal reports to the International Board of Examiners for quality peer review; and acceptance of five-years full-time professional experience.
